Get To Know Dr. Caffey
Samantha Caffey wasn't born into the horse industry but got there as quick as she could. Influenced by a neighboring ranch, she grew to love the ranch owners as adopted grandparents, and Samantha found her passion for horses at a young age. While completing her undergraduate and masters degree at Sam Houston State University she competed in collegiate horse judging, and the collegiate ranch horse team. During the summers she would serve as a clinician and an ambassador for the American Quarter Horse Association in Europe, hosting riding clinics to promote the western stock horse and ranch style horsemanship. She then went on to earn her veterinary degree at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2016.
Samantha started her veterinary carrier as a rotating intern at an equine surgical referral hospital Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. While her husband, Dr. Stacy "Hondo" Caffey, continued traveling the country to pursue specialization as an equine surgeon, Samantha practiced as a Jack-of-all veterinarian and bread winner.
From Texas and Oklahoma to New York and Washington, Samantha has had exciting adventures and enjoyed opportunities to work side-by-side with Hondo in equine sports medicine and surgical settings along the way. She is very excited to practice her equine veterinary career here at VetweRx Equine.
When the doctors Caffey aren't tag teaming in the surgery room, they can be found on a mountain side trail, the slops, or horseback with their baby Edyth happily in tow.
