VetweRx North VetweRx South

Committed to the Growth of Your Breeding Program

At VetweRx Equine, our veterinary team does an extensive amount of reproductive work for horses. Equine breeding is one of our passions and we want to ensure the safety of your horses every step of the way.

Our services include artificial insemination, pregnancy management, foaling, and collaboration with CSU and Vista Equine for embryo transfer and oocyte aspiration.

We can customize a program for each horse that begins with breeding and ends with a fully vaccinated healthy foal. This process includes achieving a pregnancy, maintaining that pregnancy as well as creating a vaccination and deworming schedule for the mare and foal. Finally, we will help with foaling and monitor for any complications as well as ensuring that the foal is healthy once they hit the ground.

How We Monitor Your Mare

We have several diagnostic tools to monitor the mare's pregnancy as well as to monitor the mare as she gets ready to foal. Progesterone levels are checked periodically for the mare to ensure she will carry the foal to term.

As she is ready to foal we can help determine her foaling time through the use of foal alerts and milk calcium testing on site.

Caring For Your Foal

Foal care is a very important aspect of our program. The first two weeks of life are the most crucial as far as ensuring the health of the foal.

We carry IgG snap tests to measure the level of passive immunity transfer through the consumption of colostrum right after the foal is born. In the event of a failure of passive transfer, we stock HiGamm plasma to administer to foals. We also use Serum Amylid A tests after every foaling to detect infection before clinical signs appear.
