Get To Know Dr. Smith
Dr. Kieran Smith is originally from Newark, Delaware. Growing up on the east coast, he fell in love with the West at an early age while visiting his grandfather in Durango, CO. One of his favorite memories from these Durango vacations was Grandpa taking him to the "cowboy store".
Kieran worked throughout high school on a friend's beef cattle farm. His duties included caring for various farm animals. These experiences led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania where he graduated in 2015 with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. During college, he worked on a dairy farm with the herd-health team and spent summers in Durango helping a large animal veterinarian.
Kieran was accepted into the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and Nevis. He went on to complete his clinical year at Colorado State University, graduating in January 2019 with the highest honors. While completing an externship with VetweRx Equine, he decided that he wanted to specialize in equine practice and stay within northern Colorado.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. His special interests reside in reproduction, neonatal care, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine.
Kieran currently lives in Parker. When not working, he enjoys hiking, camping, snowboarding, and traveling.
